So here it goes:
Monday - We start the week of with a bang! I usually have a team leaving and a team coming so it is laundry, laundry and more laundry. After getting everyone fed, kids ready for school, and everyone out the door,I am ready to start our boy John with school. My workers and I prepare the rooms for the team that will be arriving which ranges from 5 - 12 (unless like this week, it will be 14)! Then it is off to the main house for the orphanage for staff meeting and dinner. We return to our home with the team and have an orientation to our home and set house rules! By the time we are finished, it is bath time for kids, short time of fellowship and off to bed we go!
Tuesday - It is up and at 'em for me at 6 am to prepare breakfast for the team and my family. Team is out the house by 7:40 and the kids are down to the school room by 8:15. Then it is off to another day of laundry! By mid afternoon, it is kitchen time to prepare supper for the team. (I cook for people staying in our home on Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday and Sunday evenings). After supper it is baths, some time fellowshipping and bed
Wednesday - Same morning routine; I usually take it easy on Wednesdays and do Sunday School things for my sunday school class! Then it is mainhouse for supper, english devotions, and then back up to our house in time for haitian church!
Thursday - WOW! same morning routine and same evening routine as Tuesday.
Friday - We get a break in the evenings and we usually do family pizza night before going pick up the team from the mainhouse!
Saturday - we take the team out for souvenirs and lunch
Sunday - Is an early morning! I wake at 5:45, set out breakfast, shower and get half way ready for church, get the kids up and fed, get them ready, get myself ready and then it is out the door by 8 am for Haitian Church, back to our house by 10:15 to go to English service and then the mainhouse for lunch. Ladies singing practice is at 2 pm and Teen haitian service is at 3 pm!

And we get up on Monday to do it all over again!!! I love my crazy life! God has given us so many opportunities to minister not only to Haitians but to Americans, Canadians, Australians, French!! It is awesome to see His hand it all that we do! So, welcome to a week in our crazy lives!!!

As a senior in college, my goal was not a diploma but a husband. I had dated but knew deep down inside that none of them were right for me. When Brandon walked in that first morning for work study, I knew that I was going to marry him some day! Ten years, 3 children, 7 years of serving in Haiti, I love that man more than the first time we spoke the words I LOVE YOU! I do not do well with being left alone, especially here in Haiti. Brandon is my support and my guide; I feel so lost when he is not with me! But as the saying goes, "absence makes the heart grow fonder", and it is definitely true! I miss his laugh and crazy jokes, his shoulder to cry or fall asleep on, his wonderful way with the kids, his servant's heart. While absence makes the heart grow fonder, it also makes us realize how much we take that person for granted. I am thankful that 10 years ago, I married that man that I can't stand to be without!!

I can't quitely remember the age that I started singing, but can remember recording myself on my little tape recorder around the age of 10. I have done so much research on music and worship. God loves for us to worship Him. John 4:24 says: "God is a Spirit and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth. Sometimes after I sing, I think, "Did I prepare my heart before I stood before these people; did they receive a blessing through the words I sang or was my heart not what it should be and it showed forth in the song." As I watch Haitians during worship service in our church, it amazes me how they worship with all they have. Eyes closed, hands raised, voices lifted; praising HIM with all their heart, soul, and mind. These people know that the little they have, they have because God provided them with it. Our comforts and riches, sometimes, blind us to true worship and adoration for the ONE who provided and blessed us with those comforts and riches. Silly man got his dates wrong! So..... Now I am truly in my lonely week! He left yesterday and will be gone for 8 more days! I survived the first night! I am proud of myself! I am not a loner at all and don't want to be alone but I think it will be good for both of us to be apart! I am happy for him that he can go and be with guys of like faith and find encouragement in some pastors and other missionaries at Football camp. So, you may see more blogpost from me this week as I will be super lonely!Nikki Jordanhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02864223283591008940noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6066370126333993542.post-82853710401152744292011-07-28T19:39:00.000-07:002011-07-28T19:51:53.046-07:00A Lonely Week AheadYou would think that after 10 years of marriage, one would be perfectly fine with their spouse's departure for a few days......well, I am not that spouse! I hate to be alone and rely so much on Brandon, that this next week is going to be a hard one. Brandon will leave on Saturday to attend a few meetings and the annual football camp in Dwight, IL. I am happy for him that he will be reporting to some new churches, as well as, seeing many supporting pastors, happy that he will get to see old friends and make new ones, happy that he will get some "guy" time. But even though I am happy in all of these areas, I am sad that I will not have him here with me! To watch him tuck the girls in at night, to watch him pray with Kofee as he puts him to bed, to snuggle me after a long day of hard work! All things, of course, happen for a reason. Maybe I will not take him for granted and learn to do a few things on my own. The old saying goes like this..."absence makes the heart grow fonder". It will be good for us to be apart, for our appreciation and love for each other to grow even deeper; but I will miss that man of mine sooo much!!Nikki Jordanhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02864223283591008940noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6066370126333993542.post-37712731193110235272011-07-25T19:46:00.000-07:002011-07-25T20:00:20.446-07:00Crazy Monday!Mondays! They are always so fast and crazy! After a Sunday of sickness, we de-germed the house and beds before getting new people in our home. After a couple loads of laundry, I started fixing our "healthy" meal. We have several of us, here on staff, who are trying to eat right; so, I offered to make the meal for tonight. I have been using many of the "hungry girl" recipes and they are so yummy! I made barbeque bacon wrapped chicken breast, potato salad, green salad, and cinnamon banana muffins. It was a big hit with everyone! We got our guest settled in and enjoyed an evening of fellowship. Still trying to get the kids better. Kofee's fever seems to be gone just some diarhea left. He is laying on my lap as I type this! Some of my favorite moments are when he wakes up crying and we just snuggle for a while. I guess I know that these moments will be gone too fast and I cherish our snuggle time! So, crazy Monday has come to an end and I say good night!Nikki Jordanhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02864223283591008940noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6066370126333993542.post-68062353721842560042011-07-24T19:38:00.000-07:002011-07-24T19:50:37.660-07:00Fun in the Sun

Thanks to a recent team who brought the kids a blow up swimming pool, they have been able to have some fun days in the sun! It is fun to stand in the kitchen and hear them out back giggling and yelling and splashing around. Kofee is so funny; he loves the water and could stay in the pool forever!

Jay Bickel, Holli and Pat's son, had his 11th birthday at a hotel here in Haiti. You can pay to swim for the day. This morning, Kofee woke up with fever and diarrhea and Kylee was running a fever. I was a little disappointed because I was looking forward to a day in the sun! My wonderful husband sent me and Bailee and stayed with the two sickies! It was nice to have some mother/daughter time with my oldest child. Sometimes, I am sure she feels overlooked with two smaller siblings, but today I focused on her! She is such a wonderful child and shines wherever she goes. She made two friends instantly and played with them all day! At times, I look at her and wish that I could be more like her in my Christian walk. Love others regardless of what they look like or where they come from. Love them as I love myself without fear of what someone may think of me. WoW! What a thought to end on!!!
Nikki Jordanhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02864223283591008940noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6066370126333993542.post-85952179942665021912011-07-14T14:14:00.000-07:002011-07-14T14:19:09.196-07:00Good Friends are medicine to the SoulWe have ran the guesthouse for GLA now for a little over a year, and now have the opportunity to host previous teams. This team in particular come from Illinois and is the hometown of John and Dixie, the founders of the orphanage. I have been looking forward to this team coming and am enjoying their visit immensely! We bonded with them when they were here a year ago and it seems like we have known each other for years!! Tim and Melissa are a dear couple whom were on that team last year and it is great to sit with Melissa in the evenings and just chat! Good friends are hard to come by and I thank the Lord for the position He has given us to meet so many wonderful people!Nikki Jordanhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02864223283591008940noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6066370126333993542.post-73158933691987824052011-07-10T18:11:00.000-07:002011-07-10T18:27:43.320-07:00A Busy Productive WeekWhat a week! They all seem to fly by so quickly now a days! We had a great team in our home this weeks with such servant's hearts. They worked all week up at Ft Jacque on a home that will house a staff couple. Every evening, tired and weary, they would enter our home with just as much joy as they had left with in the morning; never a complaint, never a cross word. It is weeks like these that are so truly a blessing to us as we host them. At times, it is difficult when we have a team that complains of the work being too hard or that they didn't come to clean and paint, they came to play with babies. Teams like the one we had this week is what makes running a guesthouse easy on the soul; however, there are days that seem to be long when having people in and out of the house and you just want to run to a quiet place with no phones, no people, no questions, and no complaints! It weighs harder on me than Brandon and he seems to always carry it on his shoulders that is why I sucked it up and told him that I really wanted him to be able to go to Football Camp in Dwight, IL. I did so well and tried to cover the feelings of so desperately wanting to be the one to "get away" until the night he booked his ticket. I found myself crying! The next morning, Brandon and I had such a wonderful conversation and it helped me realize that none of us are perfect. So many times, I feel sooo guilty for those feeling; feelings of needing a break, or to get away, or to want to go shoe or clothes shopping. God is so gracious and loves us in spite of our selfishness! The rest of my weekend was wonderful as I looked past my selfishness and looked on others! I know that these things maybe aren't necessarily things that you may want to read about, but I want to be honest in all that I blog about!Nikki Jordanhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02864223283591008940noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6066370126333993542.post-73363081969536408392011-07-04T18:45:00.000-07:002011-07-04T19:05:14.192-07:004th of July Weekend

Saturday was a relaxing day at home. Sunday morning was a great service at Hope BaptistChurch. Brandon was able to share communion with the church and it was great to see their reaction. Brandon has been telling the people of the church that we are not a ritualistic church. We do not do things based on the rituals of the country but when God leads us to do them. Brandon had been praying about The Lord's Supper and felt like God would have us do it this Sunday. It really felt like a light came on with several of our members, and God moved among the people! Please continue to pray for these new Christians as we train them in the Word and not in rituals of a country. English service up on the mountain was a wonderful time to share with GLA staff and others who join each week to worship!

After church, we decided to join many of the staff on a ride up, up, up the beautiful mountain side to a log cabin retreat called "The Lodge"; it was absolutely breath taking! It was so relaxing to be away for a little while and bask in the beauty of God's creation! We had a wonderful lunch with our friends!

I love holidays! Every holiday is my favorite and so as the 4th rolled around I made sure I ordered my Old Navy t-shirts ahead of time! We proudly matched in our shirts! It is fun as the girls get older and know what holidays we are celebrating! They were so excited to get our matching outfits out to wear! After our team arrived that will be staying with us this week arrived, we had a light lunch and a little rest and then headed up to our Ft Jacque property for some fun, food, and fireworks! It is so awesome to have a family to share these moments with! Our GLA family have been such a blessing to us and we had a great time celebrating our independance with all of them! Happy 4th of July to all of our friends and family!!

Nikki Jordanhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02864223283591008940noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6066370126333993542.post-19529031606970139292011-07-02T18:09:00.000-07:002011-07-02T19:08:29.677-07:00Some past happenings

To bring everyone up to date, I thought I would blog a little this evening on a few happenings since my last post. The new year brought many great things for our family and ministry. On January 12, I had the awesome opportunity to sing for a crusade that a missionary friend of ours had. It marked the year anniversary of the tragic earthquake that took place in the country. However, we didn't focus on the loss, we celebrated the life that we are so thankful to still have to serve God in an even bigger capacity. Going into this experience, I truly felt inadequate to sing in front of so many people, but I felt like God would have me do it. As I thought about this, I joked with a couple friends of mine who are awesome vocalist and told them that they needed to come and help me sing; next thing I know they are coming! I prepared a medley in English/Kreyol of a song written by my friend Betsy, who was on her way to sing with me along with another dear friend Nathan. Their plane was delayed and I had to take the stage by myself; I was amazed at the peace and confidence that God gave me. On one part of the song I had incorporated "Amazing Grace" and it was amazing to hear thousands upon thousands of Haitians, those who had lost loved ones, homes, and everything that they had, join me in singing. God showed me that day thay He uses any and all talents that we have if we allow Him! Betsy, Nathan, Melissa, and I were able to touch many lives with our voices. We were able to share the love, healing and hope that we have in Jesus Christ!

February brought in some great teams and friends that we have made. One team came not knowing where they were staying or who they were staying with. We built a strong bond with them as they told us of their love for church planting. They were such a blessing to our family as we sat with them on the final night of their stay and heard their blessing and prayers for each one of our family members.

March we were able to take a short vacation for 9 days to Orlando. Disney World is alot of hard work but it was worth it to see the excitement on the children's faces!

Since the beginning of the year, we have held 2 baptisms, baptizing 8 precious haitian people. Our church continues to grow and we are running out of room. We have so many faithful members. I have, also, started a ladies singing group. It is exciting to me to be able to start this group and get to know the young ladies who come each week to practice.

April brought a broken leg for our little girl Kylee. We usually have a house full of people seeing as our home is a guesthouse; but on this lovely Saturday, our house is empty and a team won't arrive until Monday. So, we took advantage of the opportunity and slept in, sat around and drank coffee, and made cupcakes for Sunday School. Then daddy decided he wanted to treat the family to dinner at the Baptist Haiti Mission! So, off we went to eat some hamburgers and french fries. We all wanted to splurge on some icecream but the machine wasn't working (bummer!). We came home and got things ready for tomorrow's church service and played some ball on the balcony, enjoying the beauty of this country. Children are bathed and I am sitting enjoying the cool breeze and the quietness of the evening! Mood - Content! Nikki Jordanhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02864223283591008940noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6066370126333993542.post-44588349168417644962011-07-01T11:14:00.000-07:002011-07-01T11:19:22.507-07:00Better Late than NeverSomeone once told me that I should keep a journal so I could look back and see how far the Lord has brought us in our ministry....I thought to myself, "Sure, in all my free time!" But as I thought about it more, I remembered that I had started this blog! I loved when I was taking time out to blog about the day to day things that happen in our lives and in our ministry. So, as the saying goes, "it is better late than never"; here I go again with trying to capture my favorite moments, not so good days, and day to day life in a third-world country.Nikki Jordanhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02864223283591008940noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6066370126333993542.post-52567303211665599572010-12-01T09:52:00.000-08:002010-12-01T11:13:20.310-08:00Time Flies When You're Having Fun!
MY oh MY! Where has the time gone! I must apologize for not blogging in weeks. Life here in Haiti has been crazy busy, but some of the best crazy busy days have passed since I last blogged and I will fill you in on some of them.

October 31st arrived, and it was one of the happiest days in our ministry. We opened the doors to Hope Baptist Church. It was so nice to have Brandon's parents and grandpa here. It was such a special time for Brandon and I as we watched Grandpa preach the first service. It has now been 4 weeks since the opening of the church and we have had an average of 125 every week. We have seen at least 7 souls saved. God is blessing and it is so awesome to see HIM work through us!

We had a great time at our Halloween party! It was so fun to see everyone jump in and play along! With trick-or-treating from room to room to coming up with unique costumes, everyone had such a great time!

Several teams have passed through the guesthouse in the last couple of months and we have met some great people. It is fun to get to know everyone on the teams and sad when they leave as we form a special bond with each person!

What a special time for me ths month, as I was able to interpret for Virginia Grounds of Victim Relief Ministries. As we spoke to ladies in several different areas here in Haiti, we watched as unsure faces turned to faces that were happy to hear the encouragement Virginia gave to all these hurting ladies. I was honored and humbled to stand beside this Godly ladies as she ministered the women of Haiti.

Thanksgiving day was so special this year, with a "family" to share it with! What a joy it was to cook with the GLA staff and listen to Christmas carols! The feast was amazing with lots of yummy food and wonderful desserts! I am so thankful for all the friends we have acquired here at GLA.

Today is December 1st and I just don't know where the time has gone but as I look back on the last month or so, I am excited to see that the time passed on good measures and we have seen God's hand in our lives!
Nikki Jordanhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02864223283591008940noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6066370126333993542.post-56053388194991038502010-10-25T19:57:00.000-07:002010-10-25T20:16:02.292-07:00When it Rains it PoursIt has been a while since I have been able to blog, but all for good reason as there has been so much illness in our home. As you know, I had Hepatitis A, and Brandon caught it; he had it so bad and it was so scary to see him that sick. Kofee started running a high fever and he had an ear infection, and Kylee came down with strep throat. When it rains, it pours! Satan is fighting us so hard! He would like to see us fall and not start our church; he would like to see us quit; but we are strong and we have God helping us through and we know that at the end of the fight we will come forth shining as gold! We will be able to give God all the glory!

New beginnings should have solid foundations and our foundation is founded on God. We started prayer services this morning to kick off a week of activities leading up to the opening service of our church. Six o'clock this morning, we had our 3 guys, Edward, Brandon and 5 visitors. We will continue this all week. On Friday we will be showing a Haitian produced film; it is a modern prodigal son story. We will be showing it in the street by the church. On Saturday we will be holding a fasting service from 8 am - 12 noon, and then on Sunday, we will hold our first service! A special treat to this service is that Brandon's grandpa will be preaching the service. It is a great honor and privilege for Brandon to have his Grandpa here in Haiti for the first time. God is so good and we are so excited about what He will do in our ministry!Nikki Jordanhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02864223283591008940noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6066370126333993542.post-29880809047601248392010-10-15T19:46:00.000-07:002010-10-15T20:01:13.983-07:00The Hepatitis Blues (or yellows I should say)! For a week and a half I had felt weird; such as fever and body aches in the evening time, I was cranky and irritable (my husband might would say, "What's New!"), and just not myself. On Thursday of last week, we had the opportunity to go on a date night to a very nice restaurant. Upon our return home, I started feeling odd but thought I had just eaten too much! Around 2:30 the next morning, I was pretty miserable with a nauseous stomach. I awoke bright and early to start making my breakfast for "Feelings Friday", and couldn't even lift my head off the pillow without feeling like I was going to throw up at any second. My wonderful husband put my cinnamon rolls in the oven and iced them and everything. Around 2:30 that afternoon, I ran to the bathroom and did the thing I hate to so the most, threw up!! I thought for sure that I would start to feel better but it only got worse. As I started realizing all my symptoms, they were very common to me. Kylee has just had all of them about a month ago, and was diagnosed with hepatitis A. Long story short, I am now a hideous yellow color, and have passed it on to my husband who is way worse than I was. He can't seem to stop vomiting and has been in bed for 4 days now. Living in a third world country, you can never be too cautious of things and I obviously wasn't cautious enough. Lesson learned and shots given; we are fighting to recovery. The hardest thing about it, is that we know it is Satan fighting with all he has. Our church doors are going to open on October 31st and he would like to do everything in his power to have us fail, but I serve a God who is greater than any sickness or any other obstacle that Satan will throw our way! God will receive the praise and the glory and souls will be saved through our efforts. Place us in your prayers as we continue to get well and stay healthy for His cause and His work.Nikki Jordanhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02864223283591008940noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6066370126333993542.post-70330998840940204302010-10-04T18:14:00.000-07:002010-10-04T18:46:06.552-07:00Breakfast RecipesHere are a few breakfast recipes that I have tried in the last week or so and they were very good!

Breakfast Enchiladas

serves 10

2 cups ham, cubed

1/2 cup green onion

1/2 cup of peppers (green, yellow, and red), chopped

2 cloves garlic, minced

1/2 package of bacon

2 cups shredded cheddar cheese, divided

10 flour tortillas

1 tablespoon flour

2 cups whole milk or half and half

6 eggs, beaten

Seasonings, to taste

Cook bacon and remove from pan, saute green onion, peppers, and garlic in bacon grease. I crawled back in bed 3 times. Not like me at all, but it sure did feel good! Not much happened today; which is a good day!! Over the weekend, we had a pizza and Wii night at the main orphanage house and on Sunday afternoon, we celebrated the new fire pit that was built at the property where the new orphanage will eventually be built. It was lots of fun being with great friends. It is just nice to go up to the property; it is one of the most prettiest places here in Haiti, with one of the most gorgeous views that I have ever seen of this country! You can truly see God's awesome creation in all of its glory! On Sunday, Brandon preached for English service and we were blessed by his message of "Staying close to Him." I can't believe another week has come and gone! God has blessed us in this last week and I look forward to see what He has in store for us in this upcoming week!

Nikki Jordanhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02864223283591008940noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6066370126333993542.post-49048364020928944262010-10-01T19:25:00.000-07:002010-10-01T19:47:54.607-07:00Feelings Friday
Every Friday, I make breakfast for all the volunteers and staff girls at the orphanage. It has been deemed "Feelings Friday" because Brandon gives a short devotional and then we allow the volunteers to share about their experiences here in Haiti. At times, it becomes a bit emotional as Haiti has that affect on people; thus, the name "Feelings Friday'. I love this time with the volunteers; it helps us to get to know them better and spend some time with them. This morning Brandon spoke on "Drawing Nigh To God". He just shared that as we work with the Haitian people we need to be close to God so that others see Him in us. We have a parent of one of the orphans here volunteering; he is from the Netherlands. Brandon asked if he would pray and he asked if he could do it in Dutch! What a blessing to see that here in Haiti, we share our home with so many people from all over the world, and have a wonderful opportunity to be a blessing to so many people.

Of course, I have to serve a hearty breakfast and this morning, I served Breakfast Enchiladas! They were so yummy, that I thought I would share the recipe with ya'll.................tomorrow! But for tonight, I will post a picture so you will be eager for it!

Nikki Jordanhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02864223283591008940noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6066370126333993542.post-86806220818798576702010-09-29T18:42:00.000-07:002010-09-29T19:24:06.880-07:00The View

The house was quiet yesterday morning; I snuck out of bed, made some coffee and headed to the balcony. It has been cloudy and rainy over the last few days and, therefore, has been chilly up here in the mountains. I grabbed my blanket, cofee, and bible and had some quiet time. The view from my balcony is just absolutely breathtaking. I am in awe of this country, this people. Such heartache, such resilience. God has placed us here at this time for this purpose: to reach them with the gospel. The Haitian people are open and eager to learn about Christ. As we are seeing up here in the mountains, many have not attended church, don't know the songs in the songbook. Down in the city, there are churches on every corner, people are singing church songs all the time. We have been given this opportunity, to start this church in the mountains of Haiti. Where God's beauty is all around us and some have never heard His name. I pray that these photos bless you as this scene blesses me every single day!

Nikki Jordanhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02864223283591008940noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6066370126333993542.post-62399926627605417002010-09-27T18:51:00.000-07:002010-09-27T19:11:38.660-07:00Cherish the precious times - they past so fastWhat!!! 6:45 a.m.!!!!!! OH NO! I didn't wake up to serve our guest breakfast before he left!!!!! I didn't even hear anyone leave the house. Then I look down and all snuggled in my arms, is my precious baby boy! How could I not stay in bed when I have such a sweet little bundle of joy sound asleep in my arms!

It was a great start to a new week; school, laundry, workout, staff meeting, supper, preparation for tomorrow's school, Veggie Tales with my sweet girls, and now snuggling again with that sweet little bundle of joy as he watches his favorite show "Popeye"!

God gives us so many blessings in our lives and they are so often taken for granted. As one of my workers arrived to work this morning, she seemed down; I began speaking with her about her weekend and, just as so many Haitians, is living in a tent. Due to the horrible weather over the weekend, she lost her tent. It took her 4 1/2 hours to reach her home on Friday after leaving my house. My heart broke for her as she tried to have a good attitude, but was just so sad. This is just one story of many here in Haiti. From Brandon's visits over the weekend, he learned of a deaf woman who was under the rubble after the quake, she was there for 4 days, was dug out, and left for dead. She was thrown in a hole with dead bodies. When she awoke from her unconscious state, she found herself in the midst of all these bodies. She worked her way out and began stumbling around. She was covered in blood, had a broken arm, but was found by her mother who had been searching for her since the day of the quake. As Brandon talked with this woman face to face, he was reminded of God's goodness to us and how thankful we should be for the life that we have in HIM. She was in great spirits and praised God for saving her!

Well, look forward to sharing this week! Happy Monday!Nikki Jordanhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02864223283591008940noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6066370126333993542.post-14693571828545548402010-09-26T19:48:00.000-07:002010-09-26T19:59:14.667-07:00The Lord's Day - A day to Glorify HIM!Brandon started out his morning early and headed to the tent city in Petionville; this is one of the largest tent cities with over 55,000 people. This particular tent city is run by none other that actor, Sean Penn (who is not a Christian), but he has placed all his confidence in a national pastor who is doing amazing things in this tent city. Brandon has become very close to Pastor Sinser and preaches for him often. Over the course of the week, we have had a very special visitor in our home, Edward Smith. Edward is with an organization called Victim Relief Ministries and he is a chaplain. He travels to different disaster areas and gives grievance counselling. He also preaches. On Friday evening, we received some very bad winds and rains; it hit the tent cities hard. Pastor Sinser called Brandon and shared with him that the main tent, the sanctuary, had fallen. On Saturday, they went to see Pastor Sinser to encourage him and in turn they were encouraged as they saw a group of young men working hard to restore the tent. This morning in the heat of the sun, Brandon and Edward ministered to over 200 Haitians, who despite no tent and despite the heat, came to worship God! A God who sees and hears their cries and knows their hardships. They worked all day today and were able to put the tent back up for a sanctuary of praise and worship to the Almighty God! Another week has come and gone. I am ready for this new week and to share with you our wonderful lives in the precious land of Haiti.Nikki Jordanhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02864223283591008940noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6066370126333993542.post-36981835129492994852010-09-25T19:14:00.000-07:002010-09-25T19:35:17.092-07:00Can anyone say Peanut Butter Chocolate cake!

So, I got a chocolate cake mix and whipped up some homemade chocolate frosting but that was too boring for me; so, I added my own little twist -- PEANUT BUTTER! Friday is so long as i do homeschooling with all three of my children and one little munchkin running here, there, and everywhere. Today, I put grilling on the menu (which means less work for me!!). I love when Brandon grills because I just have to make the sides. Tonight, he made wonderful shishkabobs, and corn on the cob, and I made rice dressing and a salad with fresh avacados. In one of the major tent cities, Pastor Sincer calls Brandon to tell him that his huge church tent has fallen. I praise God for His safety on our family here in the mountains, but can't help but think about all those poor homeless people down in the city. Wet and cold, hungry and hopeless. As I think about these things, it makes me thankful for a husband that has a heart for these dear people. On October 31st, we will be holding our first service of Hope Baptist Church. We have prayed for so long for open doors and God has just thrown them wide open.
